Thank god my mum didn't live in Notting Hill

When I was a wee girl my mum had aspirations for me. She wanted me to sing, dance, discover a unified theory of quantum physics and be better than all the other little girls in the playground. Basically because she could then brag to all the other mums about how wonderful I was. This I suspect has led to my driving need to be better than everybody and my crunching failure when, in fact, it turns out I'm not... but more on that at another time.

A typical week for me was something like:

Monday: School, dinner, tap dancing
Tuesday: School, dinner, modern dancing
Wednesday: School, dinner, ballet dancing
Thursday: School, dinner, homework
Friday: School, dinner, acrobatics*

Things I do know (apparently)

For the last three days I've been training people...

Which means in the language of the Scots I've been "talking shite" for a number of consecutive hours while uncaffinated people are nodding off because the "interesting" training programme I've created (which had plenty of caffeine fueled breaks) has been adjusted by boss type people* at the last minute.

Things I don't know

While listening to Last fm today (www.lastfm.com) today I discovered I knew nothing at all about Antonio Vivaldi.* Unfortunately now in my rush to tell the blogging population about my lack of knowledge, he was replaced by Husky Rescue, and so I'm now none the wiser which is both a great thing (ie Husky Rescue who I haven't heard for ages and are great) and a great shame (ie being none the wiser about Vivaldi).

*Last fm do handy bios about the artists you're listening to

Aaaaargh!!! (or a story about how rubbish I am at relationships)

A couple of years ago I went to a party at a friend's house and there was a rather nice bloke there. It wasn't the first time I'd met him* but it was the was first time I'd had a proper conversation with him.

Needless to say we got on like a house on fire, and I seem to remember that we spent the rest of the evening chatting. He tried (and failed) to teach me how to play snooker. I really liked him.

I also remember that we had a bit of a moment. This is somewhat hazy due to the large amount of alcohol I'd imbibed over the course of the evening, but I distinctly remember it happening. We'd popped outside for a cigarette, talking away, and when we finished our cigarettes we stayed outside for a bit, still talking. Then for no reason at all we stopped talking.

We were staring at each other for what seemed absolutely ages, and just as I thought "Yes! Something's about to happen..." my friend came outside to see what we were up to. Aaaaargh!!!

At which point we leapt about five feet away from each other, shuffling our feet. Which kind of spoiled the moment really.

Then I had to go back in and sort out my flatmate** who'd passed out on some chairs and everyone was getting a bit tired and one by one started drifting off to bed. I was very disappointed when he also went off to bed, when I was still trying to sort out said flatmate.

I still see quite a bit of him as he occasionally hangs out in my circle of friends, but we've never quite managed to recapture whatever it was between us that night. Sigh.

*The first time I met him we went to the cinema with his sister and her hubby and he bought me popcorn. This perturbed me so much that I spent the rest of the evening unable to talk to him. Go me!!

**Who on a later occasion managed to get further with this bloke than I ever have, much to my disappointment.

First post (the reprise)

Well this feels a bit familiar. I am hoping that the reprise will be every bit as witty and erudite as the original post. If it turns out to be lacking in a certain je ne sais quoi then I can only blame blogger. Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

So here goes, in the form of a handy question and answer session so you can get to know me a little bit better:

Q So Miss Delirium, why have you decided to commence this blogging malarkey?

A It's something I've been thinking about for a while... I tend to lurk a fair bit on other people's blogs so it seems only fair if I return the favour.*

My other reason is that I think I may have some amusing stories to tell. But I also have a memory like a sieve. Which means that people tend to get treated to my "interesting" tales at inappropriate times (ie when I remember them). So I'm hoping this blog will be a bit like a hard drive for my thoughts.

Q And what kind of things will you be blogging about?

A Anything that comes into my head (see answer above). So this could be topics such as what I'm listening to today, what I'm watching today, what's made me cry, what's made me laugh, what I'm thinking about buying, what I eventually actually bought, the highfalutin' world of high finance, friends, family, lovers and cheesecake, as well as a variety of other interesting ideas that will hopefully come to me. So this will be a bit of an insight into my life (so god forbid if anyone I know ever reads it!)

Q How often are you planning to blog?

A Absolutely no idea. It will depend on the frequency that the aforementioned "variety of other interesting things" comes to me. So I'm not committing myself... yet.

I think that'll do for now, it's late and my brain is a bit tired.

*I say favour but I'm sure that the people in who's blogs I lurk have far better things to do than read mine.

Out damned Blogger

Note to self:

Next time I'm using Blogger, remember to press the "Save now" button before pressing the "Edit posts" button. Especially after writing an amazingly amusing and witty first post (you'll just have to take my word for it).

Oh well, back to the drawing board...
